May 13, 2010 | Comments Off on Train Conductor for iPhone/iTouch Update

Voxel Agent’s Train Conductor is one of my most used game on my iTouch. (reviewed here previously) They recently have added a new city, Barossa Valley as a free upgrade. If you already have the previous version, remember to update the app. If you want this fun railroad game, its available for $1.99 at iTunes.

They are also currently working on adding US cities as a whole new level. So far they have done the NY Subway and the Grand Canyon. Looking at the screens and the sneak peak below, they do look challenging and fun!

Here is a sneak peek at the upcoming US Level:

April 7, 2010 | Comments Off on Turbo Trainz for Wii

N3V Games are making a train racing game for the Wii called TurboTrainz. The control system uses the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to make you “Become the train”. You will be moving your arms back and forth and using controls to accelerate like a train along the track. Your competitors can fire missiles at you, throw oil spills to slow you down.

Turbo Trainz will be released later this year.

Check out the trailer/in-game video below. Its not what i expected for a train game but might appeal to the younger crowd.

February 16, 2010 | Comments Off on Review: Train Conductor for iPhone/iTouch

Train Conductor [App Store Link] is a fun railroad game where you play as the dispatcher and get to route the trains to their numbered tracks without crashing. The action takes places in the different cities of Australia which are depicted in gorgeous hand-painted maps.

Each level introduces unique twists such as Ghost Trains, Gold Rush Trains, Demon Trains and broken tracks. The game starts out easy but get crazier as more tracks and trains are introduced in later levels.

There is also a Night-Shift mode where the goal is to get as many “Ghost Trains” to their destinations as fast as you can. “Ghost Trains” do not crash into each other so you can concentrate to complete your routing. This is my best part of the game. In all, this is a fun game that i found playing more often than the other railroad games for iPhone/iTouch. Here are a few more screens from Train Conductor:

Here are some of the Night-Shift Screens:

This game is published by The Voxel Agents and here is their video showing the gameplay so you can get a feel for the action:

Train Conductor is available at the App Store for $1.99.

November 3, 2009 | Comments Off on Trainz 2010: More Images and Video

Auran have released another video showing a route, from their upcoming Trainz 2010 version, filled with Speedtrees. It does add a nice elemental touch but still no word of any other major technical enhancements. They have also released a few more screenshots which show some new locomotives and rolling stock.

I have still not pre-ordered and am waiting for more details. Speedtree is nice but i need more reasons to justify an upgrade. I really would be disappointed if the upcoming 2010 version is “2009 PLUS Speedtrees”

October 29, 2009 | Comments Off on Tower Sim Demo

For all you dispatchers fans, the Tower Sim demo is out now. The demo allows you to control 3 trains and has a limit of 15 minutes in the MG Tower at the Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania.

Some notable MG Tower Features:

* A facsimile of a US&S Model 14 electro-pneumatic interlocking machine
* Switch and signal interlocking with section locking, time locking, and route locking.
* Model board with track occupancy lights and track layout
* air compressor failures
* incoming calls from other tower operators
* outgoing calls to announce passage of trains

For dispatcher newbies like myself, please read the instructions.pdf in the installed folder. I got all my trains stuck at the signals and failed with a 0% score!

Auran says it will be backward compatible with TS2009 content. The PC requirements and the release dates have not been announced yet.

September 16, 2009 | Comments Off on “Wild Wild Train” for iPhone is free for now

Wild Wild Train, a puzzle-strategy-routing railroad game for the iPhone/iTouch is now free for a limited time.

The goal of the game is to route your trains by clicking on the switches to pick up goods and then drop them off at designated stations. The first three levels has one train and subsequent levels let you manage upto three trains. Eventually you even get to disarm bombs and save the damsels in distress. Trying to deliver your goods while avoiding crashing into each other gets very challenging.

Its free for now so why not give it a try. [App Store Link]
